The Magic overcome major point deficit to beat the Heat
Translation: The Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat are two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference of professional basketball. The Heat have been a much better team this season, but Orlando is still very good. For most of their game last night the Miami Heat were winning by a lot of points (24 points was the most) which meant that the Magic had a major point deficit. However, the Magic came back (overcame the deficit) to win the game 99-96. This is a tough loss for the Heat who lost earlier in the week to the New York Knicks, another great team in the Eastern Conference. The Heat remain the second best team in the Conference.

NFL labor talks get extended 24 hours
Translation: The owners and the professional American football league (NFL) are in the midst of a labor dispute with the players union. The dispute is over money that comes from televised football games because the players think that they are entitled to more of the share than they are receiving. The owners and players have a collective bargaining agreement (CBA), which has been in effect for 18 years, but the CBA was set to expire on Thursday night at midnight. Both sides agreed on a 24 hour extension of the agreement to negotiate the disputed terms before the agreement expires, in which case they would have to start from scratch. If they start from scratch, there is a good chance that much of the dispute will be settled in drawn out court battles that would keep the 2011 football season from happening. No one, especially us fans, want that.
